Hello, I am Mauricio Machado!
A 53-year-old painter who currently calls the charming southern region of Florida, USA, home. I was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and from an early age, I was captivated by the allure of colors and brushes, thanks to my mother, a natural-born artist who adorned upholstery and glass with mastery.
At the age of 10, my mother noticed my growing interest in painting and led me to her school. There, I experienced a magical encounter with art, instantly connecting with paints, materials, and the abstract. This moment was pivotal and planted the seeds of art that would accompany me throughout life.
My journey took a challenging turn when I moved to the United States. Adaptation, responsibilities, and professional challenges temporarily distanced me from my true calling. For over a decade, painting, my deepest passion, took a back seat.
The turning point came when I rented a modest warehouse and built my own studio. This was the milestone that transformed my life and reignited the creative flame that had always burned within me. Managing this space was a challenge, but each brushstroke was an affirmation of what I truly wanted for my life.
Each artwork I create since then is an expression not only of my technical skill but also of the resilience that shaped my journey. Building my dreams from scratch was a challenging journey, but the achievement of that space was the realization of a dream I didn't even know I had.
My approach goes beyond simply applying paint to a canvas, after all; “I don’t just create paintings, they are thoughts on the canvas.” Each artwork is a dialogue, a visual narrative that invites you to immerse yourself in the unfolding stories before your eyes.
